The resonating cellar

A 19th century cellar restored by applying the theories on the influence of the psyche by architecture and the vision of metaphysical space conceived by Renzo Piano for museums. The main hall is paved like the orchestra pits, offering exceptional acoustics. With dark gray finishes and small openings the room amplifies concentration and interpenetration.

violin making ccc Una cellar of the 19th century recovered in which I tried to put into practice recent theories on how architectural space influences the psyche and the idea of metaphysical space that Renzo Piano believes museums should have, as containers for creativity not influenced by the outside.

The main room (width 8.26; total length 17.16; net length from the mezzanine 15.22; mezzanine 2.90; maximum height 7.60; minimum truss height 5.72; 2-pitch wooden roof) is paved like the orchestra pit in classical theatres, it has no echo or reverb the instruments play with extraordinary body.

The floor and walls are dark grey, the original openings are very small and positioned high up, so the room does not relate to the outside, offering a lot of concentration, and is not subject to changes in natural light. A 3 meter high mezzanine and a 4 meter high gallery allow shots from above. In an adjoining room there is the bathroom, a make-up station and the passage to the guitar and costume room. The guitar room (about seventy, mostly experimental lutherie) is very intimate, designed to encourage concentration and creativity, the barrel-vaulted ceiling gives excellent acoustics with delightful reverberation.

We are equipped with a large collection of costumes and accessories, very useful resource for photos and videos.
